Canada Goose Branta canadensis L 25-45″ (64-114 cm)
Most common & familiar goose. Call is a deep, musical honk-a-honk & also a rapid higher cackle. Range is open fields, forested areas near water & lakes. Flocks migrate in a V-formation because all the geese behind the leader can see each-other & not get lost. Often heard migrating at night. When migrating, they stop to feed at wetlands, grasslands, fields & lakes.
